For the past 8 months I've been producing a documentary for CET, the Cincinnati PBS Member Station about the historic renovation of Cincinnati's Music Hall. Known throughout the country as one of the countries most well known concert venues, Music Hall is home to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, and Ballet. For 16 months, the doors of Music Hall will close, as a historic renovation process ensues. CET will document this process…Continue

Thanks to Judith, my documentary students produced a response film to Birth of a Nation. It will be exhibited as part of a student film showcase for Friday, Sept. 18.
Judith spoke to my class in the spring semester and they loved her stories and comments about their personal projects. As a culminating group project, the students produced a composite of video letters addressing the themes presented in the film. They wanted the millennial perspective to be…Continue

I was recently was honored with a Los Angeles Emmy Award in the Arts, Culture/History category for "Mia, a dancer's journey." I work-shopped this film at the CPB/PBS Producer's Academy at WGBH in 2011, and I know that the experience helped to improve the overall program. Since then, the film has aired nationally on PBS stations and won many awards. I am so happy to share this Emmy news with my fellow Producer's Academy alumni. Thank you CPB/PBS and WGBH! …Continue

Its been four years. Which is both no time and a lot of time. Since Boston, I moved from WMHT in Albany to Mountain Lake PBS in Plattsburgh New York to take the helm from another talented workshopper, Colin Powers, as Director of Production and Content. I worked there for about 2.5 years. In that time I earned a New England Emmy, went to Afghanistan, Rwanda, Poland and some other far less interesting places. I moved back to Albany six months ago to take a job as the new VP, Production at…Continue

It was workshopped at WGBH and after 5 years in the making, we premiered at Sundance. Right now I'm between LA, SF and Salt Lake City. If you're ever headed out to UT, let me know!
Brian Knappenberger, who directed my ICE WARRIORS film last year, tells me he is staffing up for a new series, describing it as “investigative/political/civil liberties with a heavy layer of tech. It explores abuses of power mostly around technology but also subjects like privatized prisons, etc.” I don’t know more about the project than this, but Brian is a brilliant director and his Luminant Media company does great work. He's looking for "pretty much the whole range of…Continue

With great sadness I’m writing to let you know that John Siceloff passed away last Friday after battling a fast-growing cancer. John, who taught for us at the CPB/PBS Producers Workshop at WGBH and at the special Workshop we did for Puerto Rico’s public television, was a wonderful, caring soul who’d worked for more than 20 years as an award-winning broadcast news producer, for ABC, NBC, CBS, and PBS, where he launched Now with Bill Moyers. After years of journalism in the US,…Continue
